Meet The Team

For me, movement offers joy and challenge, as well as an expressive outlet, a way to connect with others, and a means to explore. At Onyx, I want to help create a safe and encouraging environment where you can find what movement can offer you.

I am here to be your support, to help you accomplish any goal you set your mind to. I am not here to tell you what you need to be, or what you need to accomplish to be amazing, because you already are! My desire is to help everyone gain that confidence within themselves and to love who they are. I want to inspire and push you to heights you never knew you were able to achieve and to love the journey along the way. Even if you are like me and it takes you a long time to accomplish much, because we are all here on different journeys with different struggles we have to overcome. I am excited to be a part of that journey with all of you.
Meghan
I love circus and aerial arts because they are healthy for our bodies and our minds. I love the strength that my body gains and the resilience that my mind gains. I love the creativity in performing and the sense of accomplishment I get after a good day at the studio. As an instructor I want to share the love and joy I have for this art form with others. I hope to guide my students safely through their journeys, to encourage them when they need it, to push them when they need it and to make sure we all have fun, because you can work hard and have fun at the same time.

I started my aerial journey early 2018 and instantly fell in love. The combination of strength and grace it provides, I knew it was for me. Aerial silks allows you to be creative, strong and takes you outside of your comfort zone. I am here to be your cheerleader and help you discover all the different ways a body can move. I truly love teaching and helping create an environment that allows growth and long lasting friendships. We are all on our own journey and I can’t wait to be a part of yours.
Lisa
Dance—and movement of all forms—has always been a passion of mine. Onyx came to me when I was at the lowest point in my life and helped build me back up. I am excited to teach at Onyx to give back to a community that has helped me grow as a person and accept who I am. My mission is to help others with their journey who struggle to believe in themselves. I just need you to show up and I’ll support and cheer you on the rest of the way. You don’t have to have taken dance lessons previously or pole lessons to be an artist or dancer. You just have be able to move, whatever that is for you. To me, all movement is wonderful. I say that instead of “beautiful” because sometimes we don’t want to be beautiful: we want to move awkwardly or aggressively to deal with whatever emotion we are working through. I personally love awkwardness and if you have ever seen me in a halloween show, I like to be freaky! Onyx has allowed me to express myself in multiple forms with each form being equally celebrated; for my students, I will do the same. As your new instructor, I’m here for you. I am honored to be part of your journey; I hold a lot of weight to that and respect for each student who comes to the studio. Let’s make the most of the time you are here and step away from your troubles or worries for an hour. Or if your celebrating and in the best mood, let’s carry that energy into class and allow it to help you move and be excited about each new step of your own journey.
Tori
Since the time I was 3 years old and put on my first pair of ballet shoes, dance has been the highlight of my life. I found aerial dance at a very difficult time when I thought it would be impossible for me to continue dancing, and I am beyond grateful that I did. Dance and our Onyx community bring so much joy to my life, and I am so honored that I now get to teach others to love it as much as I do. As an instructor, I aim to create a safe and supported space for students to attempt new things or perfect old ones. I will always be your number one cheerleader and hope to help you find beauty, grace, strength, and fun at whatever part of the journey you are at right now. I am always so excited to teach and hope you all can feel that excitement every time you have a class with me! Now get off your phone and come dance with me!

From a young age I held a truth at my core, I was a creative type. I explored everything from drawing and design, to music and welding. The one thing that always felt special, where I felt most myself, was expressive movement. It’s a different kind of creativity, a language of the soul. It’s speaking without words. This idea developed into one of my core philosophies, movement is a universal language. No two people look the same, speak the same, or move the same. Yet, those emotions expressed through movement are universally understood, while still being individually unique. Movement is something all your own, no rules, no right or wrong. It's your moment and in that you are free. You’re allowed to turn off the chaos and let it all flow through you. I hope to help you explore and grow that expressive seed that’s in everyone. Be it for health, confidence or exploration, I hope to cultivate a safe, uplifting and genuine experience for you and your journey.

I have found my greatest passion in life to be moving my body and expressing myself through movement. My passion for movement has flourished at Onyx where I have learned how to be in tune with my body and move with intention. I am drawn to teaching because I want to share my knowledge of movement and gain perspective of how others relate to movement. My goal as an instructor at Onyx is to help students feel safe to try, fail, succeed, and grow. Life is constantly changing requiring constant growth. Yet growing can make us feel very vulnerable which can be scary at times. I want to create a space where students feel safe to be vulnerable free of judgement and where they can find ways to move that make them feel good. I am so excited to put these goals into motion and be apart of your journey at Onyx and you be apart of mine.

When I first started Onyx I didn’t realize how big of an impact it would have on my life. I have learned so many amazing new skills but most importantly I have found myself. Being at Onyx has given me such an empowering feeling, both physically and mentally. This is more than just a business to me, it is my safe place, my passion, my home. As an instructor my goal is to give back what Onyx has given to me; to encourage, inspire, and equip others to believe in themselves and to be a part of their journey. I believe that Onyx came to me in my time of need and I am so excited and honored to now be a part of it.

As a kid I was always the girl in the mud. I played softball, ran, blew up soda cans with firecrackers and caught frogs. I was the notorious neighborhood tomboy, but I had a secret, I wanted to dance. Somewhere I got this idea that you had to know how to dance in order to dance. Flash forward many many years to the day I stepped into Onyx for the very first time. It wasn't until then that it dawned on me that in order to dance, you have to just dance.
I have loved being able to adventure through the world of upside down. From pole to hoop to specialty apparatuses like chains, to finding things I can climb and hang from in the outside world.
The years I've spent in the aerial arts have been the best of my life!
I am so lucky to have the opportunity to teach others what I know, share my passion, and support others through their journey.

I have always found movement to be truly amazing. Add in the unique beauty of each body and how one simple movement will look different from one person to the next; now that is truly awe inspiring. My passion for creative, expressive movement comes from my teen years when that was the only way I felt truly heard or at peace with myself. My goal as a teacher is to challenge students to grow, find their voices and feel confident to express themselves through movement in the way that feels right to them. I hope to provide the safe basics of movement so that you can take that knowledge and transform it in your bodies and hearts in the way that fits you best. The true beauty of movement is the fact that there is not just one way to do it, there is not a right or wrong way to express yourself. It is just you, being you, and that is something to cherish.
